Happy New Year and Welcome to 2015!

Hello, Hill Family!

I hope that everyone had a nice holiday and has settled comfortably into the New Year.  I'm working on getting my house better organized and streamlined with a couple of projects.  I thought I would include you in the fun!  I've decided to put together a blog site where we can view family photos and share the latest news.  That means I'll need your family news and photos for posting in the future. Hopefully, this blog will be our "go-to" site for all things Hill family related and will provide a richer family connection.  Any and all suggestions are welcome as we build this communication tool together in 2015.

One of my other projects for January is to work on a new Hill directory.  I don't know about you, but my blue address book is marked up and ragged from all the cross outs and scribbles.  This is something that I have known for a while was needed, but I got an extra "push" over the holidays.  I connected with Mary Margaret Green over Facebook.  Mary Margaret was looking for a copy of the Hill directory to help her reconnect with some of her cousins.  Duty calls!

Let's get going on this project together.  I will be sending out a huge spreadsheet with all the names that I have on file and will be asking you to fill out information for your family.  And I use the word "family" rather broadly.  Some of you may need to help me out as I don't have a valid email or address for some on my list.  I'll be specific in what I need from each of you.  Thanks for your help!

And speaking of family news, I do have a few new addresses to report.  Please make a note of these changes in your dog-eared outdated directory.

Mary Beth and John Warren report that David is in Qatar for the next nine to twelve months, and then he will return to Germany.  He would certainly enjoy hearing from the family.

On the home front, Mom and I did make a quick trip to Clinton, SC on Thursday to visit with Aunt Marion.  Since it was so cold here (8 degrees at 7 a.m. warming up to 29 degrees - BRRRR!), we decided to make a quick road trip and stay warm in the car instead of by the fire.  Traffic was light and we made good time on I-77 and cross country.

Marion was looking very well and she was excited as usual to have visitors.  Marion reported that last Sunday was the first time the First Presbyterian Church had scheduled a "live broadcast" at the Community.  There were some technical glitches, and the small group that assembled was not able to hear Jeri's sermon.  However, the on-site host (an elder) had a DVD of the previous Sunday, and the group used this for their worship service.  Marion was happy to see the interior of her church again, especially as it was still decorated from the Hanging of the Greens for Christmas.  They will try again this Sunday to work through the technical issues, so keep your fingers crossed for a real time sermon!

Time to sign off for now.  Please send feedback on the blog and be on the lookout for the directory update information.

Have a good weekend!
